Roger Wicker's Constitutional Amendment Cosponsor Larry Craig honored by Minnesota baseball club

As reported by Cotton Mouth last week, Roger Wicker proposed a constitutional amendment to define marriage as being only between a man and a woman. Never mind this country is losing lives in a BS war, losing close to 100,000 jobs a month, watching gas prices climb towards $5.00 a gallon, all the while the economy is headed south of the Bush approval rating, but Roger Wicker thinks the most important issue facing Mississippians is the "threat" of gay marriage. Thank you Roger for the Marriage Protection Amendment, it will really help hard working Mississippians.

What is really humorous is who Wicker signed on as cosponsors for his Marriage Protection Amendment. We discussed this the other day here.

Larry Craig was busted in a Minnesota airport soliciting gay sex in the bathroom and plead guilty to the charges. He is a cosponsor along with the bill creator Roger Wicker. A Minnesota based minor league team, the St. Paul Saints, honored the Wicker associate with a bobblefoot night. Senator Larry Craig was busted sticking his foot under the stall of a fellow stall sitter and tapping his foot under the stall. This is some kind of gay sex on the go for those looking for a quick hookup signal that is well known apparently across the country.

MAY 22--Capitalizing on Senator Larry Craig's restroom bust, a Minnesota minor league baseball team this Sunday is giving away a promotional item celebrating the Republican politician's arrest last year at the Minneapolis-St.Paul airport. Dubbed a "bobblefoot" (as opposed to a bobblehead doll), the polyresin giveaway depicts an occupied bathroom stall (the inhabitant's pants and shoes can be seen below the stall's panels). When the St. Paul Saints's "bobblefoot" is shaken, one of the spring-loaded feet taps. The keepsake, which will be handed out to the first 2500 fans attending the Saints's May 25 game against the Fort Worth Cats, can be seen below and on the following pages. According to an undercover cop's account, while in the airport bathroom, Craig "tapped his toes several times and moved his foot closer to my foot." The officer, Sgt. Dave Karsnia, was seated in an adjoining stall and believed Craig's footsie was a signal that the politician was seeking sex. Craig has denied this, blaming his wide stance for Karsnia's unfortunate misinterpretation.

As far as this Democrat cares, Larry Craig can get his jollies anyway he chooses but I do find it amusing that he would team up with Roger Wicker for the Marriage Protection Amendment.

Roger Wicker teams with David Vitter and Larry Craig on Marriage Protection Amendment

Roger Wicker introduced a constitutional amendment, the Marriage Protection Amendment, in June designed to define marriage as between a man and a woman. Despite local popularity of such an amendment, understand there is absolutely no chance the legislation passes. The amendment was introduced to bring the favorite GOP wedge issue of gay marriage to the political debate in the months leading up to the election. Think back to 2004, when many of the swing states had state-level votes on gay marriage as part of a Republican plan. This is classic Rovian strategy, to bring a wedge issue to the table when it looks like you are doomed in an election based on relevant policy debates.

The real story here is not the politics behind the amendment, but who Roger Wicker signed on as cosponsors for the proposed constitutional amendment. Cosponsors for the Marriage Protection Amendment include Senator Larry Craig of Idaho, and Senator David Vitter of Louisiana. Remember them?

Larry Craig is the Senator from Idaho who plead guilty to lewd conduct charges after being busted soliciting gay sex in a men's bathroom in a Minnesota airport. He was the foot tapper, who claimed he just had a "wide stance".

David Vitter is the Louisiana Senator implicated in a D.C. prostitution scandal. He admitted to making repeated calls to a Washington D.C. based call girl service.

What a pair to join Roger Wicker as cosponsors for the Marriage Protection Amendment.

When Strom Thurmond ran for president we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years either.

Strom Thurmond, of course, ran on the Dixiecrat ticket whose main policy difference with the available parties was that they were dead against civil rights and supported the preservation of segregation.
