Governor Barbour will be declaring a special election within 60 days to fill the vacancy left in the 1st Congressional District.
We have to appreciate Barbour's interpretation of the law here. The Lott seat has until November, but the Wicker seat needs to be filled within the 60 day time span- quite convenient.
According to The Daily Journal, Southaven mayor Greg Davis and former Tupelo mayor & TVA chairman Glenn McCullough have put their names in the ring. The deadline is Jan. 11.
