The Desert Sun (California)

The Des Moines Register (Iowa)

Fewer writers, fewer programers, less content... that's the Gannett way!

  1. That is a very good catch.

Less writers, less programmers, less content = fewer expenses and more profit?

  2. Yep. They make their money, while the market shrinks (for newspapers) due to the drop in quality and local content that means anything to people.

The heavy turnover for political reporters is bad for content and says to me that they don't place a high value on reporting.

  3. That's the Gannett way- make everything the same. What works in one paper becomes "the standard" across the board. Florida Today will be changing it's website in April to look exactly like the others. I think that they do this to keep us on the same level- tired, mindless, miserable slaves.
