Mississippi Democrats Ahead Of The Supreme Court

2004: Year Mississippi Democratic Party Adopted A Plank Stating Full Support For Individual Gun Rights

2008: Year Republican Supreme Court Agreed

It took the Republican Supreme Court four years to begin to catch up with Mississippi Democrats on gun rights.

The original plank was written by Jamie Franks.

This is absolutely the dumbest quote/post I have read on this website.

For the Supreme Court to rule there must be a case and controversy - meaning they just can't "say" what they are thinking, there must be an issue before the Court.

Well, the Court finally got a case, and they issued an opinion. To say the Democrats were ahead of the Republican Supreme Court is misleading.

Case and controversy is taught at the undergraduate level in Con Law. I'd suggest enrolling next semester.

  2. More of a fun fact.

Not everything posted is of amazing value.

Does Southern Miss have an undergraduate Constitutional Law class?

Proven. In fact, this illustrates that some of the posts here are pure propaganda and have no other value.

I don't know. Probably. Most credible political science programs do. Check out a textbook written by Lee Epstein. Read about what is justiciable before the Supreme Court (should discuss C&C, ripeness, mootness, fed question, etc...).

Reading blogs isn't a substitute for scholarly reading.

  4. Leek,

I can't believe I'm about to say this, so wait for it and relish it for one moment...

I'm glad your posting again. Please save us from Jeff. 9 out of 10 posts from don't even make sense.

You've progressed over the past year and have become more of a filter. I thought our relationship was really going somewhere.

  5. I agree with JD. Jeff should stop throwing around all that logic and factual commentary backed with links from reputable sources.

  6. I'm not going to law school, so I doubt I'll take law classes.

Feel free to educate in the future, but be ye kind if you can. ;)

  7. Covington,

I might be worried that I'm not doing a good job if I get too much praise from you guys. (ha.)

Jeff does a good job. His work is sound and based on fact.

I do enjoy the comment that "Jeff should stop throwing around all that logic" from drew.

  8. If Drew considers photoshopping and cartoons logical, then I'm glad he stands with Jeff.

  10. log·i·cal (lj-kl)
    adj.
    1. Of, relating to, in accordance with, or of the nature of logic.
    2. Based on earlier or otherwise known statements, events, or conditions; reasonable: Rain was a logical expectation, given the time of year.
    3. Reasoning or capable of reasoning in a clear and consistent manner.

I could be mistaken, but a cartoon by nature isn't meant to be logical. Whether it's pertinent or relevant is a different question; but that is typically an opinion, which we all have.
