This whole financial meltdown has hurt Republicans across the board from McCain on down. I have been waiting for a new set of numbers to come out. Well they are here, and they look good. Rasmussen, whose polls are usually favorable to the Republicans has a new poll out today. I don't have access to the crosstabs.

Musgrove --- 47 (42)
Wicker ------ 49 (47)
MoE 4.5%
This is where I think we (political pundits) expected the race to be at this time. Musgrove within striking distance, and a chance to win. Of course none of us could have predicted these past two weeks, which have hurt Republicans more than Democrats, when both are at fault. Price we pay for having Bush in the White House.
