I don't know what internet access is like so there may be delays in getting up speeches and posts, but it is my intention to capture every speech given by a statewide candidate on video and to share those speeches with y'all.
It's like his line that more folks voted for him than any previous governor. Well yes, but the record is generally made each year as population and thus voting population grows. This year will be a new record. 4 years from now there will be another.
Our unemployement rate is the 2nd HIGHEST in the nation.
People who want jobs can find jobs. With the labor shortage on the coast, why didn't unemployed people travel down there to work?
They didn't want to.
My job allows me to see this first hand. It really is a shame. If you remove the Delta from the State, our ranking would jump tremendously.
As a former Deltan, I think it is a motivational problem. People talk about the lack of "good paying jobs." They remind me of "Cousin Eddie" in the Family Vacation movies. He was unemployed for seven years, holding out for something "in management." Work is work, and if people would humble themselves, they could work.
Thanks for adding to the discussion Brett. I think the real solution to our economic problems is finding a way to help entrepreneurs start businesses or expand them everywhere in the state instead of bribing corporations to come here.
I oppose ridiculous "incentives" to bring jobs to an area regardless of which party or parties support it. It's a racket that sets state against state and community against community.
Read "Banker to the Poor" to find many of my thoughts on small enterprise and the promise even micro-businesses bring to the community.

Since you asked.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jack.
ReplyDeleteSo that would be 200 more jobs with 65,882 more residents.
Progress. (snark)
what does any of this have to do with cotton mouth going to the fair? You guys are scatterbrains. Stick with a subject and take your adderall.
ReplyDeleteStick with a subject and take your adderall.
ReplyDeleteAdderall XR is the superior blend. The buzz from standard Adderall only lasts about 4 hours.
So get your f'ing nomenclature straight.
That is 1,200.

It would be a great open thread topic.
Unemployment rates by county
ReplyDeleteThe point about the Delta is true. But there's also unemployment problems in a number of north-central and NE districts not surrounded by Lee.
