Clarion Ledger: "Will The Smell Follow Spell?"

Will the smell follow Spell?

That's the question in the agriculture commissioner's race as incumbent Lester Spell, whose Land, Water & Timber Resources Board backed the dead Mississippi Beef Processors Inc. plant that cost taxpayers $55 million, seeks re-election.
...
Spell was a strong advocate and co-chairman of the board that gave the plant $5 million to use as seed money.

Until that time, says the report by State Auditor Phil Bryant, the state could have walked away.

But no one has yet been punished for losing the taxpayers' money.

  1. Lester's going to need one of Rickey Cole's flys-watters to keep all the flies off from that rotten meat.
