John Eaves (and Haley) On Faux News

This race is getting some national press. Good.

  1. "I would argue Mississippi is not one of those places"

Boy is she a spoil sport. :)

    Conventional wisdom is often wrong.

  2. I would argue that regardless of what he may do or say, John Arthur Eaves has absolutely no chance to beat Haley.

Can we just quit pretending this is a real race?

  3. So much for expert state "political scientists"! Wonder how she accounts for the fact that Eaves got 100,000 more votes than Boss Hog in his Democratic primary? Or the fact that historically Mississippi elects Democratic Governors? Just go back 100 years and count the number of Democratic Governors vs. Republican Governors! A socially conservative Democrat is what this state typically puts in the Governor's office!

  4. Every race is a "real race."

Upsets happen every year. Newcomers defeat the media selected supposed-to-be victors often.

Politics is not a science, it is an art and art is always changing.

I believe Haley Barbour predicted that Democrats wouldn't take Congress, oops. :)

A lot can happen in three months and in fact a lot is happening now. I've spoken to several "Republicans" and they are voting for John Eaves because they trust him and believe he is the real deal.

    I think they are right.

Politics is not simply sport, it is God given democracy and every race; I repeat every race is a real race for the voters who chose and the candidates who bravely run.

(and I step down from my even higher elevated soapbox)

  5. What encourages me are the defeats of Dale, Ross, and Robertson. Maybe Mississippians are smarter than Haley thinks.

  7. WLB, it was called realignment and it happened in the mid to late 50s. The South was all democratic before the realignment. All the democrats of today are much different than those of the past and those democrats of the past would compare very closely to the Republicans of today in the South. Take out the segregation issues and they are very close. Read the news and look who was running in democratic local races. The Sherriff running as a democrat in Jackson took many voter that are Republicans and many other counties were similar. I worked a precinct and there were huge numbers of Republican voters voting democrat due to local elections. November will be here soon and this blog will be filled with the “What happeneds,” “I thoughts,” and the “Better luck next election” for Eaves.
What does Eaves have to offer besides being a preacher. I get preached to every Sunday and we sure don’t need one of those in office. Eaves has said nothing about his plans for our state.
“And I’ve got a lot of ideas I’ve explored there cost and feasibility, but here is and answer you won’t often here from a politician. What I envision for miss is more than a governor can do alone, but take heart and don’t be afraid because it is not more than we can achieve working together, walking in faith, as democrats and republicans, businesses and workers, black and white to change the way that our politics, our communities, our churches interact to promote the common good.”
    And that means what?
Please, someone tell me what he is going to do for our state. I think he is a great guy, but being a good hearted man and being a leader is two different things. Morals are good, everyone needs some type of morality, but do morals run a State? It is hard to buy his religious hype when he had an affair a little over a year ago. Give me the plans that Eaves has besides “I’ve got a lot of ideas, I’ve explored there cost and feasibility,” I mean real plans, other than trying to save the State from falling into the pits of hell.
