Yesterday, the Gulf Coast Business Council released Two Years After Katrina, which reports on the status of our recovery down here. The Biloxi Sun Herald aptly titled its headlined article Keeping it positive.
As is often shown in our own lives, keeping an upbeat, appreciative, and grateful attitude for what has been done for us and for what we have always is always a good thing and generally generates more for which to be grateful and appreciative. It’s a mystical like quality that seems to magnetize our energy field to attract more of the same. The opposite is also the case. Coming off as ungrateful for anything often engenders a negative response from those around us giving us more for which we are ungrateful. Funny how life works that way.
I find myself juggling a delicate balance knowing of these mysteries.

Two years later. It's pretty amazing that it's been that long.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, has the Mississippi Press stopped printing daily?
It is amazing that it's been that long, I agree.
ReplyDeleteThe Sun Herald has done a good job with its advertising making it look like because they are "South Mississippi's Newspaper," that they are the only daily.
ReplyDeleteThe Mississippi Press which covers much of Jackson and George Counties is still a daily and has stable readership so it is likely to remain so.
Ana Maria is usually very good at research and like I have done in the past made a simple mistake.
Hmmm. Have the maps changed? Every map that I see has the coast of Mississippi with three counties: Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson.
ReplyDeleteThese same maps do not have George County as a coastal county. Are the maps incorrect?
The Mississippi Press paper serves one coastal county and one non-coastal county. It serves but 33% of the coast. That does not a "gulf coast daily newspaper" create.
The Sun Herald, however, serves the ENTIRE Gulf Coast and as such has for quite a while been the coast's only daily newspaper. "Coast" is not a term that refers to a single coastal county and an adjoining non coastal county.
Perhaps a simple misunderstanding of how to read maps, John?
The Coast has two daily newspapers.
ReplyDeleteThe Coast has one "Regional" newspaper.
It doesn't really matter either way. Apologies all around to the readers, the writers, and the commenters.
