Wicker is Barbour's Choice For Senate (Lott's Seat)

I hear Barbour has offered Wicker the appointment and that he has accepted.

This is after a poll polled Wicker vs. Democrats, but didn't include Pickering.

Nothing has been published, so I can't be sure, but if it's true you saw it here first.

  1. How is this possible? I thought that a special election was required, but I am not a MS resident. Can you clarify if this is legal, for those of us out-of-staters?

  2. If this is true, chief, then your party needs to step up--that would mean both Republican House seats would be vacant. With the right candidates, you could control the entire U.S. House delegation.

  3. Barbour would make an appointment until the special election is held which is legal.

  4. tom,

I think we could definitely make a run for District 1 especially with the short time given to run (I believe 60 days). Several Dems from the area have very high name recognition and could likely raise the necessary funds including Jamie Franks among others.
