From WLBT.com:
The unconfirmed results give incumbent Republican John Reeves 278 votes to Democratic challenger Adrienne Wooten's 299.
The hotly-contested race was again plagued by confusion at the polls. Many voters in the four split precincts complained of being turned away or being told that their affidavit ballots would not be counted.
There were several reports of confusion within these split precincts throughout the day. Hinds County Election Commission chair Connie Cochran was apparently just as confused as everyone else with the problems.
"There haven't been any problems reported," Cochran said. "The only thing that has been a problem are people who have gone to vote who don't live in that district."
Wooten has now been confirmed as the winner after affidivat ballots!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! This is a big win, and it means a lot to the people in her district and Hinds County.
Connie Cochran is always confused. Today (Thurs.) she's in the CL talking about how many problems there were in the special election. Let's hope the voters of Hinds County (that is, if their names are not "accidentally" removed from the voting rolls or they are not "inadvertently" turned away from the polls or the polling places aren't locked "by mistake") clean house in the Hinds County Election Commission next chance they get!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, everyone of them should be brought up on criminal charges except for jamel he is a honest person that does the best he can. Connie bent over backwards to help John Reeves and it still didnt help. He had all of his people at the polls working to steal him this election. His biggest cheerleader Mrs Jenkins wife of Rev Jenkins the same Rev that did a commercial for John was a poll manager go figure.
