DCCC makes $700,000 media buy in MS-01

As reported by our friends at Swing State Project.
The DCCC just made a huge independent expenditure in Mississippi today, to the tune of $702,642.

The expenditures include $350K on an ad buys hitting GOP candidate Greg Davis, and another $350K on a media buy supporting Democrat Travis Childers. They've also thrown in a grand on phonebanking
As James said on SSP, the DCCC has now dropped a whopping 1.1 million in MS-01. The NRCC has spent about $600,000. The problem is the NRCC is cash spent and only had 7.1 million on hand compared to the over 30 million in the DCCC coffer.

My thought for the NRCC is, spend it in your own backyard boys!!

There is nothing better than seeing the NRCC playing defense in an R+10 district!!

Here at Cotton Mouth we set a goal of raising $1,000. We are getting there with $330 in the bank. Please donate NOW. $100, $50, $25, $10, $5, whatever you have, please.

  3. Also notable from the Swing State blog- Huckabee is supposed to come down and campaign for Davis this weekend.

    Haley wasn't enough?

  5. I don't think the DCCC after spending $10,000 or more on a poll would spend that if they didn't think it would result in a win.

The more the DCCC gets the RNCC to spend their scant resources now, the better for Democrats in November.

Let's try to keep the language clean here.

I wish I lived in the 1st District. I'd go see Huckabee; I like the guy.

  9. My sincere apologies ladies and gents. That number just shocked me, I agree that they are probably not throwing good money after bad, but such a big expenditure seems to signify that all is not coming up roses with Camp Childers. I imagine they would spend as little as they could to pull it off.

That's a mighty big investment in a seat that should be Republican and most likely will go Republican this fall.

What are the motives here, just want to get yall's opinion, my head is spinning about this.

Yesterday it honestly looked like Travis was on the ropes with nowhere to turn, will the DCCC's bailout work and was it needed to fend off a surging Davis?

    So confused...

  10. ROM, I think it will come down to who gets out there vote. The lines are pretty much drawn, and I don't expect much migration from one side to the other. The last results were so close , who knows.

  11. I would tend to agree with you Jeff, just talking to folks around the only thing I see all this media doing is keeping voters on both sides home. Pretty soon both candidates will be so hated that it really will be a turnout war.

Democrat intensity nationwide is higher than GOP, the question is whether or not that holds up in MS against those old reliable older GOP leaning voters.

  12. If the RNCC matches the DCCC spending they will have spent roughly 10% of their COH on this race while this investment so far has only been roughly 2% of the DCCC COH. If they can make Republicans spend they win.
