Cotton Mouth Welcomes The Obama Campaign Back To Mississippi

Thanks to our tipsters we know that two Obama staffers arrived today to set up an office in Jackson and begin setting up a possible upset victory over John McCain in Mississippi.

I wonder what was the last Democratic campaign to have staffers in Mississippi.  Carter?

We'll update as more details become available.  This is great news.

An alert reader tells us that Clinton had an office and staffers in Jackson in '92. First Democratic presidential campaign in MS in 16 years?

  1. John, drop me an e-mail. I'd love to help support the office financially/infrastructurally.*

*Not actually a word. And yes, President Carter did good here--the great Nash/Taggart "Mississippi Politics" book (required reading for everybody) talks in depth about that race, and how Carter state co-chair Danny Cupit really pushed hard . . . interesting read.
