Bringing It.

Rumor has it (actually, I got it off a press release) that the Eaves campaign has retained John Robinson as their new campaign manager.

I talk a ton about the need to professionalize Mississippi campaigns. John Robinson is a major step in that direction. John Robinson was the Dep. Manager and CFO for the Edwards Campaign for Pres. in '04. He came up through the ranks of the Clinton/Gore organization and has a bent for southern politics. This is the guy that guys like me want to be when we grow up.

My analysis- Fantastic hire and a smart move.

  2. The Baxley campaign had a big problem. Rumour passed around in social circles that Baxley was, um, less than kind. This made a lot of women not want to vote for her - you know how gossip is in the South. At least this is what went on in my town and several others that I know of.

It's silly and sad how a pathetic rumour and personal dislike for someone can ruin a political campaign. It's not based on policy or politics at all anymore.

  3. mooncat - Unlike how you've described the Baxley campaign it looks as though the Eaves campaign is finally getting their people set in place through the election. Also We have no intention of using gloves on Barbour. At the moment Matt and I are just trying to figure out which failure/scandal to cover because we want to be clear and there are too many to cover well.

  4. ava - Well, our good governor doesn't appear to warm and fuzzy himself. Nice people don't try to kick thousands off Medicaid because they don't feel it's the governors place. He had the nerve to say that corporations would just take care of the people so it was no big deal. #@*$!
