Charlie Ross's Education Plan

"Education: fifty cents out of every tax dollar goes to education. That's good. Education is important. When I'm Lt. Gov, we're going to talk about what we get for that dollar. We're going to measure education success by output, not input. The goal should be that every child that graduates from high school has the skills to go into the workforce. We're going to have to restructure the curriculum to have something akin to Shop Class when I was in HS in Eupora, a vocational path."

Charlie Ross says that if you can't afford to go to college, we'll train you to go to work as a laborer. You can see him say it. That's his economic development strategy too. He says so in the speech.

  2. I fixed the link and now you can see the clip (about 15m).

This is a little of a teaser, but talking about "unintentionally funny" are some quotes that he has in that video clip which we will be highlighting next week.

    "Charlie Ross hates trial lawyers...
Charlie Ross kids education is not your friend...
Charlie Ross has double first cousins...
May he never, never, never speak again."

  3. okay, just watched it and i have a few comments:

-did he just call people from california "fruitcakes"? If Ross was in the national spectrum, this could be taken as a slur against homosexuals (it probably was anyways, which is why he said it. sadly, this shit gets ya far in Mississippi). It would be sweet poetic justice to see him have a Don Imus-type meltdown during one of those "debates"

-The whole "Traditional Values" segment of his speech was a bunch of horse shit. How the hell is illegalizing abortion a conservative principle? Barry Goldwater, the king of all that is conservative (second to Reagan probably, but better), was ardently pro-choice and pro-gay rights because he, as a conservative, believed (correctly) that the government has no right to stick their nose into this kind of buisness.

-I love how his wife was so perfectly submissive with him...just standing their, clapping, didnt say a word...haha

And the "double first cousins" thing was really funny too :]

  4. If Charlie Ross is such a friend of Mississippi public education. why do his children go to a private school?

Phil Bryant on the other hand is a true supporter of public education in our state. Both his children graduated from Northwest Rankin High School, a public high school.
