God Bless American Labor

The labor movement brought us weekends, paid sick days, helped end child labor, and won healthcare coverage for union and nonunion members alike.

As we stop today to remember why there is a "Labor" day, it is important to remember that without the union movement and the union job many of us would be in a very different place.

Without unions what we know as the modern American Middle Class would not exist and economic stratification would look a whole lot worse.

So when you hear people disparaging a union ask yourself why they hold that position and where they get their information. Chances are the folks they're hearing from share none of your economic priorities.

God Bless American Labor.

  2. Where is the video of Eaves and Franks?

  3. I've had to rely on a cheap video camera which only holds 30 minutes of video. (I brought my laptop to Neshoba to download between speeches)I hadn't ever recorded Smith, I really wanted Sumrall, and I'm a friend of Cole's so I simply decided I didn't have room for the video of their speeches on my camera.

If there is a benevolent soul out there who would like to send me a used (but better) camera or even purchase me one I'd be quite happy to have it.

Such an item could be shipped to my PO Box at:
    John Leek
    118 College Drive #4897
    Hattiesburg, MS 39406

(I'd buy a Sony camera with an strong optical zoom and a hard-drive if I had the money. / I'm just wishing here)

I would only finance you a camera. Nothing is free. The sooner you learn that the better. Not to sound like Dave Ramsey, but too many people never learn that concept.

Why don't you call the Franks or Eaves' campaigns and cut a deal with them? In return for a camera, you would provide them positive coverage and access to all of you footage.

I really didn't mean that comment to be ugly, but most people just don't give things away out of benevolence, especially if they work hard for it.

You are a student. Study, work hard, and stay out of politics (see Jim Baker's book). You can actually fill up your car with gas and eat expensive steaks. You just have to work hard.

If you are serious about what you are doing, make this website profit oriented. Go after some of these Democrats, ask them for support in exchange for press. A camera on Amazon plus a good tripod can be had for $300. Factor that into your student loan, which is at 3% interest. You can pay that off with 2-3 adds if you handle your business. A web address is $7 a year. Typepad is $150. For a $1000 financed at 3% with some backing from a couple of Democrats, you will pay off your loan in no time and may turn a small profit.

    America the beautiful.
