Polling Indicates Tight Race for Lieutenant Governor

Cotton Mouth obtained the following polling data from a report given to a prospective donor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With 22% of voters undecided Bryant leads Franks by only 8 points according to this poll.

35% Franks
43% Bryant
22% Don't Know

Almost three-quarters (71%) of African-Americans support Franks. If recent trends hold steady, Franks can expect that number to rise to 90%. That would add 5 point to Franks total leaving polling at:

40% Franks
43% Bryant
17% Don't Know

When asked the generic ballot question of whether they would be supporting the Democratic or Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor results broke down thus:

38% Democrat
38% Republican
24% Persuadable

When voters are read a paragraph with basic positive information on both candidates the results are as follows:

43% Franks
43% Bryant
15% Undecided

Name recognition was low even for Bryant who has been elected statewide twice before and at the time of this poll had been running television advertising for more than a month. The results of the name ID question are as follows:

22% Franks
36% Bryant

It was conducted in the later half of July by Anzalone Liszt Research and included a sample of 600 interviews apportioned geographically based on past voter turnout.
