Former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove has asked Sen. Roger Wicker to participate in a series of Town Hall meetings leading up to the election.Wicker tepidly agreed to debate Musgrove several times before November. Too bad he already backed out of the first debate scheduled for July 31 at the Neshoba County Fair. WTOK of Meridian had this to say.
Wicker’s campaign has not denied the request but appears to want more control over the schedule and format.
Musgrove proposed that there be eight meetings — two meetings in each of the state’s four congressional districts — from July to October, with the first set for July 1.
“I believe that the voters of Mississippi will be best served by a real discussion of the issues,” Musgrove said in a news release. “No highly stylized presidential-type debates — just a series of frank conversations with voters.”
Musgrove has proposed several specific dates for town hall meetings with Wicker prior to the November election.I guess Rubber Stamp Roger will let us all know when he is ready. No one wants to think he is a
Wicker said he and Musgrove will debate several times between now and November.

Surely this isn’t a case of the pot calling the kettle black is it?
ReplyDeleteIf I heard correctly, Ronnie rejected the idea on having a Stennis debate just like the Governor did with Eaves. Now, why would he not want to have a nice controlled debate? Ronnie likes to hear himself talk and having a real debate requires a time limit. Ronnie wants to have these town meetings, which Wicker has agreed to do, so he can plant folks in the crowd to ask ridiculous questions in a very uncontrolled environment.
Be Senatorial Ronnie, do a real debate like the rest of the country.
Was the Neshoba debate not enough of a debate for you?
ReplyDeleteYou know the one Roger Wicker backed out of siting his schedule even though his excuse should exclude him from coming the next day too?
Yeah. Neshoba was about the most pro-Republican audience Wicker could ask for so I suspect he just doesn't want to debate.
Mississippian's would see how much he agrees with Bush and how little he agrees with them.
There is not a statewide candidate that just can’t go to the fair. Roger can't come on Ronnie's debate day, so what. Ronnie will have plenty of opportunities to make him pay for not showing.
ReplyDeleteTell Ronnie to quit whining and get over it. The only press he gets these days is of him crying about something. Its gonna take more than just whining about stuff to go to Washington.
Chuck the press Ronnie gets these days nationally says he might very well be headed to Washington.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that there was never any debate scheduled for Wicker to "back out" of to begin with. It was a complete fabrication made up by Ronnie to use for his own political purposes. Saying anything to get elected, that's the Ronnie we know.
ReplyDeleteMM - "I heard something from somewhere I'm not going to source, but damn it means Ronnie's bad"
ReplyDeleteThat's what it sounds like and it doesn't help your case.
