Just this morning I was lucky enough to be riding a Chicago bus at the right time to meet John Leek, who has just started a great Mississippi-based blog, Cottonmouth, that’s paying attention to all levels of politics–from Sen. Trent Lott’s vote against the State Children’s Health Insurance Program to voter intimidation at the county level. Most exciting, he’s keeping an eye on union organizing in the Gulf Coast. A local blog can be a valuable ally to workers trying to form unions, getting the word out without the traditional media filters.

Congrats!!! Your blog is excellent. I check it at least three times a day and use some of your articles as cites on my blog. You and I may disagree on some to many issues, but I respect your thorough research and analyses. May you blog for decades to come.
ReplyDeleteLove the blog. Glad I found you.
ReplyDeleteWhat about all the Diebold issues on election day? Do they seem significant to you?
I wish we could re-discover some of that good old Mississippi independence and stop sucking up to the RNC. They really don't deserve the devotion they get from Mississippi. Ad this whole Help America Vote scam, with the money to buy voting machines bribe attached to it, is threatening to make us look stupider than they already think we are.
I was surprised at how screwy the voting machines were yesterday. Wonder if any of the elections will be contested over it.
I doubt that any elections will be contested in the state. Even thought there were obvious problems all our elections officials want to declare the system fixed and be done with it.
ReplyDeleteCuriously I had a few of my friends (who are also tech savvy people) vote and they were somewhat overwhelmed by the huge screen and all the choices up there at once. One told me that he would have had difficulty had he was not already familiar with computers.
