He started with about 40 minutes about much of what he's doing or has recently done:
- He championed passage of healthcare for reservists.
- He got up armored humvees passed and got new blast resistant (v bottom) humvees over to Iraq.
- He got jammers placed on humvees to help stop IEDs.
- He brings home cooking (shrimp and gumbo) to the troops.
- He got dredge material to be used to create marshes.
- He got concrete from bridges to be used for artificial reefs which help the sea-life and fishermen.
- A whole lot more.
He said a lot in response to questions and I'll try to get more of that up soon.
I've said many times before that I disagree with Congressman Taylor often, but I also always say that I respect him immensely.
Fun facts he mentioned include that he gets far more mail when the weather is bad and he gets about 70% of his e-mail from the American Family Association and its members. He estimated they got over one thousand e-mails after the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" and said he gets mail from folks complaining about other elected officials (particularly the Clintons) and the folks say they're sending him the notes because "they" won't read them. Why should Gene?
I forgot that Gene Taylor always asks folks to give their name and hometown, so I'll have to edit that out (for folks' privacy) before I post any video.
Gene declined to endorse any candidate stateing that he'll support the candidate who comes closest to his position on insurance. He did point out that McCain has already come out opposed to the plan, so he's waiting to see how Obama and Clinton vote in an expected Senate vote on the Multi Peril Insurance issue.
