Haley Barbour and Robert Khayat have both come out today and said the debate will go on as scheduled. With no concrete word from Senator McCain yet on whether or not he will attend, Senator Obama has made contingency plans. If John McCain is a no show, Obama plans to turn the event into a town hall meeting. I don't see anyway that McCain will let that happen. I fully expect an announcement out of the McCain camp any minute to confirm his attendance.
From the
Huffington Post:Barack Obama is committed to hosting a public, televised event Friday night in Mississippi even if John McCain does not show up, an official close to the Obama campaign tells the Huffington Post.
In McCain's absence, the Senator is willing to make the scheduled debate a townhall meeting, a one-on-one interview with NewsHour's Jim Lehrer, or the combination of the two, the official said.
Bill Clinton, or "Big Dog", whatever you call him agrees with McCain...

ReplyDeleteOff-MESSSAGE? I have never seen anyone so openly admit that political posturing was more important for their party than an honest assessment of a situation.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of political posturing, its hilarious to watch the liberal pundits try to spin McCain's suspension into something somehow abnormal for him, and therefore a stunt. Just a few questions: Was it a stunt when he passed McCain-Feingold over the objections of his own party? Was it a stunt when he strongly advocated for the surge - at a time when it was a massive political risk to do so? Was it a stunt when he postponed the first day of the GOP convention because of hurricane Gustav? This is not something out of the ordinary for McCain, this is his every day philosophy. There's a time for words, and a time for action, even if it means personal and political sacrifice. What the media and left wing bloggers don't get is that this is what independents love about him. They may not agree with him on every issue, but they know that he will do what he believes is best for the country, not what's best for himself or his party. So the more the pundits go wild over this latest "stunt" the more they remind independent voters why the love McCain. I hope they keep it up.
We will see how much they "love" him in November, there rooster.
ReplyDeleteI am a McCain supporter and he should be at the debate. He has had adequate time to express his point of view on the bailout, now he needs to show up strong. He wont be able to suspend the Iraq War to deal with the economy if he is elected.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Clinton, he has had me laughing all week. I will hit the campaign trail after my world initiative is over.......and after the Jewish holidays........and after a fundraiser for the Clinton Library.....and after dinner with Bush Sr..........and after 18 @ pebble beach.............
