House Races I'm Watching (and perhaps you'd like to, too)

STATE HOUSE

(99, 20) You have an open Democratic seat, but the Democrats weren't willing to go negative so it is close.

(43) Republican incumbent was elected in a Democratic district in an nonpartisan special election. New election should have been easy win for a Democrat, but there is an African American independent candidate in the race. I can't even try to guess on this one.

(102) You have an open Republican seat where the demographics favor a Republican, but the Republican candidate is young and new to the area. It'll be close.

(12) There is a strong Democrat in this race with a lot of volunteer support. I don't think that will be enough to topple the Republican incumbent, but I loved the Democrat's ads.

  2. John,

House District 12 flips. There's no way Akins wins this race.

  3. Just came back from 3 hours of standing outside of Oxford's largest polling place. It's looking good for Jim Payne, and this is where Noal Akins himself casts his ballot. He's been outside pretty much the whole time. I'm heading back out there now.

  4. House seat 20 could very well turn Republican. Brown young solid aggressive, Puckett older twice beaten retired teacher. In spite of many publicized articles I believe Dems are going to lose much more ground in the house. I am so thankful that the Dems conitinue to run trail lawyers at the top of the ticket. What is the definition of insanity?? Continue doing the same thing and expecting different results. I ll start the rumour now Scruggs in 20011!!!!

  5. Everyone up here is at a loss for words. Akins not only wins, but wins big. Akins himself was ready to concede this thing this morning to Dr. Payne after the media blitz. Gotta give them their props. Guess this is why they have elections....
