There Will Be No MS Press Governor's Debate

After posting the news that the Mississippi Press Association will not be holding a governor's debate as previously planned the following was posted on the Mississippi Press Association's blog:

So this is what constitutes breaking news

Something called the Cotton Mouth blog breathlessly reports: “After years of having a governors debate in the year of statewide elections, the Mississippi Press Association will NOT offer a debate as previously planned between candidates Haley Barbour and John Arthur Eaves.”

The non-debate gets underway at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22.

My sources today again assured me that a letter had been sent to the involved parties informing them that the program including the gubernatorial candidates would not include a debate.

The candidates will appear, but they will NOT interact in a debate as in the past.

I called the Mississippi Press Association again this morning and again I was told that no, there would be no debate.
