Judicial Elections - Qualifying ended today

Qualifying for judicial elections ended today at 5 p.m. Currently, incumbents Ann Lamar, Oliver Diaz, and Chief Justice Jim Smith all have opponents.

District 1, Place 3
Ceola James - Vicksburg
Jim Kitchens- Crystal Springs
Jim Smith- Brandon

District 2, Place 2
Oliver Diaz
Paul Newton - Gulfport
Randy "Bubba" Pierce- Leaksville

District 3, Place 1
Chuck Easley- Caledonia
Ann Lamar- Senatobia

Justice Easley previously held the District 3, Place 2 position. He qualified for Place 1 & 2, originally, but withdrew from Place 2 allowing Appellate Court Judge David Chandler to take the spot uncontested.

  1. I see some good folks in there.

    Republicans tried to take out Diaz through the courts, but thankfully there Truth won the day.

    I bet the US Chamber of Fixing Elections will find a way to bring it up though.

  3. And too bad consumer groups don't have bottomless checkbooks like the corporate crooks who try (and often succeed) to fix our elections.
